Brandywine Global announced today that it has recently received two prestigious awards recognizing the performance of its Global and International Fixed Income products.

Brandywine Global was named "Best of the Best in Global Bonds" on both a one- and three-year basis by Asia Asset Management in the publication's Best of the Best Awards for 2006. The firm was honored at a ceremony on February 28 at the Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong and featured in a special March supplement of Asia Asset Management. Brandywine Global was also named "Bond Manager of the Year" by Money Management Letter in the publication's 6th Annual Public Pension Plan Awards for Excellence. The firm was honored on March 11 at the Loews Lake Las Vegas.

Brandywine Global's long-standing value investing approach seeks to generate alpha by purchasing securities that trade at a discount to their intrinsic value and selling when that value is recognized by the market. "This approach lends itself well to global bonds because each issuing economy has different nominal interest rates, relative currency values and different economic conditions," according to David Hoffman who co-manages the firm's Global and International Fixed Income portfolios along with Stephen Smith. "We attempt to distinguish value across markets. In a one country portfolio, value is mainly relative to other time periods, a much riskier judgment to make, and relative value within the market generally tends to be small."

Founded 10 years ago, Asia Asset Management is a leading monthly publication focused on the institutional fund markets in the Asia Pacific. The Best of the Best Awards, which are in their fourth year, recognize excellence in the financial services industry across the region. Money Management Letter is a bi-weekly newsletter published by Institutional Investor News that has reported on the North American institutional money management arena for over 25 years. The Public Pension Plan Awards for Excellence are widely recognized as one of the most highly-regarded honors given in the pension fund industry.
